Cherry Pudding

Ingredients
  • ⅓ C. margarine
  • 1 C. flour
  • 1½ tsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 1 C. sugar
  • ¾ C. milk
  • Unsweetened cherries
Instructions
  1. In an oblong cake pan, melt the margarine.
  2. In a bowl, combine remaining ingredients EXCEPT for the cherries.
  3. Pour mixture over the melted butter.
  4. Top with unsweetened cherries.
  5. DO NOT STIR!
  6. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
  7. Test the center cake style to check if done.

  • 4½ C. milk
  • ¾ C. sugar
  • ¾ C. rice
  • Cinnamon to taste
  • Nutmeg to taste

Instructions
  1. Mix all in an oven safe dish and bake at 375 for 1½ hours.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. butter
  • 2½ C. sugar
  • 2 C. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 C. flour
  • 1½ tsp. salt
  • 1½ tsp. baking soda
  • 2 C. chopped nuts
  • 6 C. chocolate chips
  • 1½ C. oatmeal
  • 2 C. raisins
Instructions
  1. Beat the butter and sugar together until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla and whip for an additional 3-4 minutes
  3. Add dry ingredients and beat. Dough will be dry.
  4. Add nuts and chips and mix with a spoon.
  5. Cover a cookie sheet with waxed paper and drop by spoonfuls onto sheet.
  6. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. DO NOT OVERCOOK.
  7. Allow cookies to cook for 5 minutes before removing.
  8. Use new waxed paper with each batch.

 

Zucchini Bars

  • 2 C. sugar
  • 1 C. oil
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2½ C. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 C. zucchini, grated
  • ½ C. nuts
  • 1 C. chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Beat the sugar, oil and eggs together by hand.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and pour into a greased pan.
  3. Sprinkle the top with additional chocolate chips.
  4. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until done.
  5. Allow to cook before frosting.
  6. Combine 4 tbsp. margarine, 3 oz. cream cheese, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1½ C. powdered sugar to create the frosting.

 

Caramel Corn

Ingredients
  • 1 cube margarine
  • 2½ C. brown sugar
  • 1 C. white corn syrup
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
  1. Cook the margarine, sugar and corn syrup together until all of the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Add the milk and vanilla and mix well.
  3. Pour over popped pop corn.

  • 4 C. powdered sugar
  • 1 C. margarine
  • 2 C. creamy peanut butter
  • 1 pkg. graham crackers, finely crushed
  • 12 oz. chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Melt the butter in a sauce pan.
  2. Beat the powdered sugar into the butter.
  3. Mix in the peanut butter and graham cracker crumbs.
  4. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased cake pan.
  5. Melt the chocolate chips and spread over the top.
  6. Chill for 10-15 minutes before cutting.

Ingredients
  • 3 sq. margarine
  • 1 C. brown sugar
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1½ tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 6 C. flour
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients and roll out between two pieces of waxed paper.
  2. Cut out shapes with a glass or cookie cutter.
  3. Place on a greased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
  5. Frost with Cream cheese frosting.
  6. Makes about 5 dozen.

  • ¾ C. butter
  • ¾ C. sugar
  • 1 C. flour
  • 1½ tsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¾ C. milk
  • Fresh Peaches, Sliced
Instructions
  1. Melt the butter in the bottom of a 9x9 casserole dish.
  2. Mix together the sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and milk.
  3. Gently pour the batter over the melted butter.
  4. Top with fresh sliced peaches and sprinkle with ¼ C. sugar.
  5. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes.

 

Fresh Peach Pie

Ingredients
  • 6 peaches, mashed
  • 3 peaches, sliced
  • ½ C. water
  • ¾ C. sugar
  • 3 tbsp. cornstarch
  • Juice from 1 lemon
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • ½ tsp. butter
  • 1 prepared pie shell
Instructions
  1. Mix water, sugar and cornstarch together.
  2. Add mashed peaches, lemon juice, salt, vanilla and butter.
  3. Slice peaches on the bottom of a baked pie shell and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  4. Cover with toping mixture.
  5. Serve with REAL cream.

Ingredients
  • 1 yellow cake mix
  • ½ C. margarine, melted
  • 3 eggs
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1 box powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Mix the cake mix, margarine and 1 egg and press into a greased 9x13 pan.
  2. Mix 2 eggs, cream cheese and powdered sugar and put on top.
  3. Bake at 325 for 45 minutes.

  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1½ C. milk
  • 1 pkg. instant lemon pudding
  • 1 prepared graham cracker crust.
Instructions
  1. Mix all ingredients and pour into graham cracker crust.
  2. Allow to set in the refrigerator and serve cold.

 

Easy Turtles

Ingredients
  • 1 C. square pretzels
  • 1 C. Rolo's candy
  • 1 C. pecan halves
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350
  2. Place the pretzels on a cookie sheet and top each with a Rolo candy.
  3. Place in the oven for about 30 seconds until the chocolate looks shinny.
  4. Pull out of the oven and press a pecan half into the Rolo.
  5. Allow to cook before serving

Ingredients
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 14 soda crackers, crushed
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 C. nuts
Instructions
  1. Mix egg whites until thick and add sugar and vanilla.
  2. Fold in the remaining ingredients.
  3. Pour into a greased 8 or 9 inch pie pan.
  4. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
  5. Top with cool whip.

 

Dutch Almond Cake

In Dutch, this is called Bouterkoek. It is one of my family's favorites.
Ingredients
  • 1½ cup flower (Dutch word for flour is bloem, which also means flower. See comments below)
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • ¼ t. salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 cube butter or margarine
  • 1 egg yolk (needed for the top)
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 t. almond extract
Instructions
  1. Mix all ingredients together (mix the dry ingredients first) by hand and press into a greased 10 inch cake or pie pan.
  2. Brush the top with 1 egg yolk and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
  3. Bake at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for thirty minutes.
  4. Note: For those of you wondering, Yes – we are aware that the word “flour” is misspelled as “flower” above. We chose to leave it this way in respect of the original Dutch recipe. Dutch word for flour is bloem, which also means flower.

 

Rock Candy

Ingredients
  • 2 c. sugar
  • ½ c. corn syrup
  • ½ c. water
  • ½ tsp.
  • flavored oil
  • Food coloring
Instructions
  1. Cook the first three ingredients to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. A candy thermometer is required for this.
  2. Stir frequently to prevent burning.
  3. Remove from stove top as soon as it reaches 300 degrees and add flavored oil and food coloring.
  4. Pour quickly onto greased cookie sheet.
  5. Cool cool all the way and tap on the bottom of the cookie sheet. This will crack all of the candy into small bite sized pieces.
  6. Flavored oil can be purchased in the baking section of most grocery stores or can be purchased online at Lorann Oils. Oil can be any desired flavor.
