Ingredients
  • 1 lb. Hamburger
  • 1 large green pepper
  • 1 large onion
  • Celery
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. Salt
  • 1 tsp. Chili powder
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • C. water
  • 2 Tbsp. Worchester Sauce
  • tsp. sage
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Mix all ingredients together and cook down until all meat and vegetables are well done.
  2. Spoon Mixture onto toasted hamburger buns and serve.

Ingredients
  • C. Sugar
  • 1 lb. margarine
  • 4 C. Flour
  • Nuts (optional)
Instructions
  1. Cream butter and sugar together and slowly mix in flour.
  2. Roll into balls and flatten with a fork on a cookie sheet.
  3. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

Ingredients
  • 1 qt. Water
  • 1 ½ Tbsp. yeast dissolved in water
  • ⅓ C. Brown Sugar
  • 1 ½ tbsp. salt
  • ⅓ C. Oil
  • 10-12 C. Whole Wheat Flour
Instructions
  1. Mix well and knead dough.
  2. Place dough in greased cans and let rise for 1 hour.
  3. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 pkg. frozen peas
  • 1 ½ C. Chopped Celery
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 2 Tbs. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • tsp. pepper
  • C. Chopped onion
Instructions
  1. Brown hamburger and drain grease.
  2. Mix hamburger and remaining ingredients in a casserole dish and top with 3 C. potato chips.
  3. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

Ingredients
  • 4 whole onions
  • stick butter (melted)
  • 2 tbs. flour
  • 2 C. Milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Cook onions in salt water for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove onions and dice them. In a separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients adding the milk slowly.
  3. Pour over onions and heat to desired temperature and serve.

 

Sponge Candy

Ingredients
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. Karo syrup, light
  • 4 tsp. sifted baking soda
  • 1 bag candy chocolate (the kind used in candy molds)
Instructions
  1. Heat sugar and syrup on medium heat to 300 degrees, using candy thermometer.
  2. Remove from heat.
  3. Briskly stir in sifted soda. Mixture will bubble up rapidly - continue to mix thoroughly.
  4. Pour into foil-lined 9 x 13 inch pan.
  5. Cool completely.
  6. Cut or break into pieces.
  7. Melt chocolate.
  8. Dip candy pieces into chocolate and cool on wax paper.

This candy is also known as Sea Foam Candy.

Fruit Dip

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • C. Sugar
  • C. lemon juice
  • C. Pineapple Juice
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients and cook on medium heat until mixture has reached the consistency of pudding.
  2. Cool completely and fold in 1 pint of whipped cream.
  3. Chill and serve.

  • 8 oz. Vanilla wafers, crushed
  • 1 C. powdered sugar
  • 1 Stick of margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can Blueberry filling
  • 1 C. whipping cream
  • C. nuts (optional)
Instructions
  1. Spread ½ of the vanilla wafers in the bottom of a 9x9 pan.
  2. Cream together sugar, butter and eggs and spread over the crumbs.
  3. Layer can of blueberry filling over creamed mixture and top with remaining vanilla wafer crumbs and nuts if desired.
  4. Refrigerate for 24 hours before serving.

 

White Bread

Ingredients
  • 4 C. Warm Water
  • 4 yeast cakes
  • 4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp Shortening
  • 10 C. Flour
Instructions
  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water and mix in remaining ingredients to make soft dough (not sticky).
  2. Let rise for 15 minutes and knead into 4 loaves.
  3. Let dough stand in greased pans for 30 minutes.
  4. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

 

Jell-o Cake

  • 1 pkg. Cake Mix
  • 2 pkg. Jell-o any flavor
  • 1¼ C. Sprite
Instructions
  1. Make 1 package of cake mix and cool completely.
  2. When cooled, poke holes in cake with a straw.
  3. Make a jell-o mixture with 2 packages of jell-o and ¾ C. hot water and let cool. Mix in 1 ¼ C. sprite or 7up and let set until syrupy.
  4. Pour over cake and top with whipped cream.

  • 2-4 Pork chops
  • 1 Large Onion
Instructions
  1. Brown, Salt and pepper pork chops.
  2. Remove chops from pan and place sliced onions in with the grease from the chops.
  3. Pour ⅓ C. water over the onions and place pork chops on top.
  4. Cover with a tight lid and cool in oven at 300 for 1 ½ hours.

  • 3 C. Lima Beans
  • 1 Onion, Diced

  • 2 C. Celery, Diced

  1. Place Lima beans in large stock pot and cover with water.
  2. Add onions and simmer for 1 hour.
  3. Add remaining ingredients and simmer about 3-4 hours until done.

  2. Pour 2 ½ cans of pork and beans into a casserole dish and top with meat.
  3. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes.
