Ingredients
- 1 C. white sugar
- ¼ C. water
- 12 oz. can evaporated milk
- 5 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- 6 egg yolks
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350
- In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, cook sugar and water, stirring constantly until the sugar melts and turns a light brown.
- Pour sugar into a flan pan or cake mold and tilting the pan to coat the bottom.
- Set to the side while you prepare the flan.
- In a large bowl or blender, whisk together the remaining ingredients.
- Tap the mixture on the counter top to remove any bubbles and pour over the sugar mixture.
- Place a towel in the bottom of a roasting pan.
- Place baking dish on towel, inside roasting pan, and place roasting pan on oven rack.
- Fill roasting pan with water to reach halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until a sharp knife comes out clean
- Run a knife around the edges of the pan and invert the flan onto a serving platter or large plate.
- Refrigerate overnight before serving.
