Ingredients
- 1 C. brown sugar
- ½ C. butter, melted
- 3 tsp. ground cinnamon, divided
- 3 tart apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- ½ C. dried cranberries or raisins
- 1 loaf French bread cut into 1 inch slices
- 6 large eggs
- 1½ C. milk
- 1 tbsp. vanilla
Instructions
- Combine brown sugar, butter and 1 tsp. cinnamon in a 9X13 casserole dish.
- Add apples and cranberries or raisins and toss to coat well.
- Spread apple mixture evenly over the bottom of the dish.
- Arrange slices of bread on the top.
- Mix the eggs, milk, vanilla and remaining cinnamon.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread making sure to get all of the bread covered.
- Cover and refrigerate for 4-24 hours.
- Bake covered at 375 for 40 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
