Ingredients
- 1 pkg. seedless dark raisins
- 4 C. water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 C. sugar
- 1 C. brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. shortening
- 2 C. flour
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder, heaping
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- ½ tsp. lemon juice
- 1 C. chopped Walnuts
Instructions
- In a large sauce pan, bring the water to a boil and add the raisins.
- Boil for 20 minutes and remove from heat.
- Add Salt, sugar, brown sugar and shortening and allow to cool.
- When cool, add remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
