Ingredients
- Dutch Apple Cake
- 2 C. sifted flour
- 3 tsp. Baking powder
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- tsp. salt
- 1 egg well beaten
- C. milk
- 3 tbsp. Shortening
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tbsp. milk
- 2 C. apples, sliced
Instructions
- Sift flour with baking powder, sugar, and salt. Cut in ¼ C. shortening until mix is as fine as corn meal.
- Combine beaten egg and milk and add to flour mixture, mixing until soft dough is formed.
- Melt 3 tbsp. shortening and butter together add brown sugar, cinnamon, and milk, and mix well.
- Pour into 8x8 pan greased with shortening.
- Press apple slices into mix in circles. Spread dough over apples.
- Bake in 350 degrees oven for 50 to 60 min. serve upside down with whipped cream. Yield is 8 to 10 servings.
