Ingredients
- 1½ C. elbow macaroni
- ½ C. margarine
- ½ C. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- ⅛ tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 2½ C. milk
- ½ C. pimento
- ½ C. green pepper
- 2 C. grated American cheese
- 2 tbsp. bread crumbs tossed with 1 tbsp. melted margarine.
Instructions
- Cook macaroni and drain.
- Melt margarine in a sauce pan and remove from heat.
- Stir in flour, salt, pepper and mustard until smooth.
- Slowly stir in milk and bring to a boil.
- Add in the pimento and green pepper and reduce heat to a simmer.
- Stir in the macaroni and 1½ C. of the grated cheese.
- Pour into a 2 qt. casserole dish and top with bread crumbs and remaining cheese.
- Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bread crumbs are brown.
