Ingredients
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tb. butter
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 lb. raisins
  • 3-1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. mace
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • ½ tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. soda

  1. Boil the sugar, butter, water, and raisins together, and cool. Then to
  2. the flour add the salt, spices, and soda, and sift these into the boiled
  3. mixture.
  4. Pour into a cake pan and bake at 350 for about an hour.
